| Placing an order
for die casting is a beginning of a long relationship. We value this relationship above
all else and will go to great lengths to maintain and enhance it. Being in business 53
years and with customers who are decades with us is the proof.
When a customer places an order for
a new product with us, or even transfers tooling of an existing product we approach it in
the systematic ISO way. We request updated engineering drawings or CAD files and the
personnel to coordinate with. Our engineers then study the part, its function, its
interaction with other parts, its quality and appearance requirements and above all, what
unique contributions can the die casting process make to go beyond the initial desires of
the customer. These can be a combination of several parts into one, elimination of
operations, etc. They maintain the contact until both sides are confident that the tools
to be commissioned will yield the best product for the application.
Then our engineers begin their own
work in earnest. They design the tooling using state-of-the-Art know-how and software to
optimize the results to be obtained. The order is then placed with experienced toolmakers
who have been prequalified by us after fulfilling stringent requirements. And finally,
they monitor progress throughout the construction process to minimize surprises and obtain
as timely a delivery of the tools as possible.
Upon arrival of the tools to our
plant they get a thorough inspection before being mounted on a machine for sampling. The
sampling itself is closely supervised for flow, fill, finish, dimensional accuracy, ease
of castability, rates of output, etc.
First piece inspection is
comprehensive. It is checked using Coordinate Measuring Machine and other advanced tools
against the latest drawing revision and instructions given. It has to satisfy our own
engineers before it is submitted to the customer for approval. Any imperfections are noted
and corrected both before and after submission for customer approval. At this point trim
dies or machining fixtures are designed and built.
When the product is finally approved
for production a special process sheet is issued to the shop noting all matters requiring
specialized attention, sequence of operations and inspection requirements which then
serves as basis for future manufacturing of that product.
In todays' world you cannot
"fly by the seat of your pants" and satisfy a customer. You either have the
systems required in place or you are bound to fail. At Cast Well we have no intention to
fail.
